What is your ethnic background?
Salvadoran
How does your background influence your business values and practices?
I considered myself an entrepreneurial soul. From a very young age I liked the business world, starting diverse projects and making them last over time; assuming the risks that this may entail and adapting to the circumstances of each moment, making me a resilient woman. In addition, I enjoy direct contact with people through customer service where a closer relationship is created.
What are some hardships you have overcome as a woman-/minority-owned business?
I have had to combine my role as a mother and entrepreneur, organizing my schedules to be able to make my products and take care of my daughter. At the same time, I was looking for opportunities to grow, so I began to participate in festivals, fairs, and private events; and offered classes and workshops for children. All of this has allowed me to balance my work and personal life.
Overcoming language barriers and not having investment capital to expand. I have thought about giving up, but I found my inner strength to keep going and have persevered for almost 6 years.
As a woman who immigrated to the United States, perseverance, determination, and curiosity have been key to be able to find educational resources to keep me informed. Entrepreneurship is part of my life.
How long have you been working with MWBC?
I joined the MWBC Shop Local program in July 2024.
How has MWBC helped you in your business journey?
Being part of the MWBC family has allowed me to expand my knowledge through training, day-to-day experiences, and connect with other women-owned small businesses. By having my products in a physical store available to the public, it has helped me financially grow not only as a small business, but also generate income to support my home finances.
What advice would you give to other Hispanic/Latinx aspiring entrepreneurs?
My advice is that education is key. Look for resources that will empower and guide you in your business journey. Regardless of the circumstances, don’t give up. Pursue your dreams, you are not alone, and your dreams are achievable. I believe that anything is possible if you are dedicated, engaged, intuitive, creative, adaptable, independent, hardworking and confident.
