Marie Rose Photography is a professional photography company with a passion for celebrating women. We aim to capture women and their essence in every form of their multifaceted lives from boudoir portraits that pay homage to women in their most intimate state, to dynamic corporate photography that vividly showcases the essence of their brand.

Who are your biggest inspirations/role models?
I would say anyone who is unapologetically and authentically them. My big time inspiration is Issa Rae. I believe she is a force to be reckoned with, has amazing talent, and truly advocates for entrepreneurs and women of color! Locally, I have a lot of role models that show me how to advocate for myself and be true to myself but I think my biggest inspiration is my mom. She is a rockstar and amazingly strong. She has taught me about hard work and dedication and I will be forever grateful for that!

How does your business contribute to the empowerment of the Black community?
Marie Rose Photography empowers the black community by showing black people off in a positive way and ensuring they are highlighted accurately through my editing and promotion on my social media pages.

How long have you been working with MWBC?
I have been working with MWBC for about 2/3 years now!

How has MWBC helped you in your business journey?
MWBC has been a huge help. Working with Karen has provided me such clarity and focus. I know she is always there when I need some advice, suggestion or encouragement. I appreciate have that accountability on my side.

What advice to you have for aspiring Black women entrepreneurs?
Make space for yourself. Be authentic to who you are and don’t try to change yourself for anyone. When you are genuine, things will fall into place and the right people will notice. Also, help another person out. We are receiving all of this help and it’s okay to help other in return or share that information. There is enough for everyone!

We asked Karen Kalantzis, Alexandra’s MWBC business counselor, what Alexandra has accomplished that makes her stand out.
Alexandra is someone who is going places! She educated herself and eventually participated in various supportive programs offered in Frederick County. One thing led to another and now she is enrolled in the current class of Leadership Frederick County.
