As we continue our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re proud to feature Yesenia Cruz, MWBC’s Administrative Coordinator. Her support of MWBC’s team members is a vital part of our success. Here’s part of her story:

I am proud to be from the beautiful country of El. Salvador! Like many of our clients, I come from a family of immigrants who came to the United States in hopes of creating a better life for future generations. My family has many strong women who have taught me everything I know. Growing up in a Hispanic culture, I learned from a very young age what it means to work hard for what you want. Through my culture, I have gained a deep appreciation for all the opportunities life has to offer. I have witnessed the struggles my mother had to go through as a single parent raising her children in America. The inspiration I get from my rich culture is unmatched and that, combined with my mother’s strength and character, helps me view the world through a different lens. When I think about my culture, I think about our diversity, delicious foods, and strong sense of unity.

Being a part of MWBC’s wonderful team has been amazing. I love being a part of something larger than myself because we all share the same passion for helping others. I truly believe that support systems, such as MWBC, are crucial when it comes to minority-owned businesses. Without a solid support system, it is easy to get discouraged, this is where MWBC steps in to believe in you at all times. I believe everyone deserves to have access to the tools necessary to pursue their dreams. This is why one of my favorite things about MWBC is that many of our services, such as business counseling, are free! It is also very rewarding to see and hear the success stories of our wonderful clients!
