On October 15 and 16, the Maryland State Family Child Care Association (MSFCCA) hosted its 28th Annual Conference in both in-person and virtual formats. This year’s theme, “Resilience is the Key to Recovery,” and corresponding sessions addressed how this year has been a true test of strength for childcare providers, but—through their resilience—they will rebound better and stronger.
MSFCCA’s event—offered in English and Spanish—drew attendees from across Maryland and provided training workshops, resources and networking opportunities to childcare providers who continue to struggle as a result of the pandemic. Conference speakers inspired attendees with fresh ideas and practical strategies to help the children and the families they serve in their childcare programs. |

Nestor Gavidia, MWBC’s bilingual Associate Business Counselor who specializes in our Childcare Development Program, attended the conference as a vendor and presenter, offering two sessions in Spanish. His first session, “Understanding Your Business Finances,” helped small business owners better understand and manage their income and expenses and calculate their profits. Nestor’s second session, “Market Your Business on a Budget,” taught participants how to create their own step-by-step plan to develop a small business marketing strategy. He covered topics such as identifying marketing goals, defining a target audience and setting a realistic budget. Both his sessions were well attended; more than 45 live and virtual attendees benefitted from his knowledge.
